handed me the document.

I read the relevant section.

No personal ownership after conversion.

No hereditary controlling rights.

Restitution priority.

Environmental remediation reserve.

Employee continuity provisions where financially viable.

Independent audit.

Full cooperation with government investigations.

Public reporting.

No board seat guaranteed to any Mitchell, Bennett, Grant, Pike, Mercer, or Hale family member.

Good.

Then I reached the disclosure certification.

All known material claims.

I thought of my mother.

My father.

Richard.

David.

Every person who had hidden something because they believed truth could wait until a safer moment.

I signed.

Not because everything was known.

Because the document acknowledged that more might still emerge.

Laura gathered the pages.

“We need immediate filing.”

“Tonight?”

“Yes.”

“Hale’s Package C triggers when dissolution is Jennifer.

Another risk.

“File it.”

Laura left with an agent.

Richard sank deeper into the pillow.

David stood near the window.

I called Liam.

“It’s signed.”

“The conversion?”

“Yes.”

“So I don’t inherit the agreed?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

I looked at Richard.

He heard the question.

“Because he finally understood it wasn’t his to leave you.”

Richard closed his eyes.

Liam was quiet.

Then:

“Okay.”

No forgiveness.

No dramatic reconciliation.

Just okay.

That was enough.

After we ended the call, a nurse asked us to let Richard rest.

David remained.

I started toward the door.

Richard called my name.

I turned.

“Thank you.”

“For what?”

“Not letting me make the last decision.”

I considered him.

“You signed it.”

“You designed the terms.”

“My mother designed them.”

“You changed them.”

Only enough to remove family privilege and toward David.

David’s face changed.

“Who?”

Richard answered.

“Chloe.”

I stared.

“Why would Chloe stop the
