plan to use Chloe.

Now Chloe was discussing vinegar.

Sarah refused to let the first steal the second.

That evening, Liam asked whether their new home would have a yard.

They had begun discussing longer-term housing.

“Maybe,” Sarah said.

“Big?”

“Maybe small.”

“Can I because of the walls.

Because David had never lived there.

When they toured it, Chloe examined the locks.

Liam inspected the yard.

It was barely more than a strip of grass.

“Treasure,” he announced.

Chloe sighed.

Sarah signed the preliminary paperwork.

Moving would take several weeks.

For the first time, the future contained an address rather than a hiding place.

Meanwhile, Lauren waited for David’s decision.

The deadline for the plea offer approached.

On the final afternoon, his attorney called.

“David will admit restraining Sarah and planning to prevent her departure.”

Lauren waited.

“He’ll admit the release phone on the table.

She did not tell Chloe.

The children watched an animated movie.

Liam fell asleep before the ending.

Chloe carried his blanket over and tucked it around him.

Sarah watched.

David had understood that instinct.

Protective of Liam.

He had written it as though Chloe’s love for her brother were a
